EL SALVADOR - OSVALDO“Homenaje”

Influenced by traditional sawdust tapestries created for public display in popular Christian celebrations in El Salvador, as well as the cultural practice of makeshift altars for personal offerings, I decided to merge such techniques to fashion my own visual portrayal of worship for “Dia de los Difuntos”, as commonly known in El Salvador is a social day when townspeople go to the cemetery, clean the graves of loved ones, decorate them with flowers, have names repainted on the tombstone, and stay around for a quiet picnic.
